Down by two goals with Moenchengladbach, the yellows go wild with Sabitzer, Füllkrug, Bynoe-Gittens and Malen. The Champions League match at San Siro on Tuesday
Anger and pride. And also beautiful game, rarely seen this year. Borussia Dortmund, who will challenge Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, beat Moenchengladbach 4-2 in a comeback and could have scored even more. Goals from Sabitzer (30′), Füllkrug (32′), Bynoe-Gittens (45′) and Malen (97′) decide the goals. The four yellow and blacks thus overturned Gladbach’s initial lead achieved by Reitz (13′) and Koné (28′). BVB had picked up just one point in the previous three matches. Dortmund is thus fifth in the standings, equal on points with Stuttgart (fourth).
the race

Without Nmecha, Terzic deploys Reus, Can and Sabitzer in midfield, with Bynoe-Gittens, Füllkrug and Brandt in attack. The start, however, was a nightmare: in the 13th minute Plea served Reitz, who did well to escape Schlotterbeck and remained very cool in front of Kobel. In the 28th minute it even made it 2-0: from a corner action, Honorat, from the right, put the ball in the centre. Koné anticipates the yellow and black defense and beats Kobel again. In the 30th minute Dortmund reacts: it’s Brandt, on the right, who serves Sabitzer whose shot, deflected by Scally, ends up on goal. Terzic’s team takes courage and equalizes two minutes later: Bynoe-Gittens serves Füllkrug on the run. The strike, from the centre-left, strikes Nicolas. In the 45th minute it even made it 3-2: Reus stole the ball from Koné, served Füllkrug which triggered Bynoe-Gittens, who found the corner. In full recovery it’s Reus who comes close to making it 4-2: the former Gladbach player is unable to overcome Nicolas with a light lob.
the recovery

Dortmund continued to attack in the second half too: in the 53rd minute Füllkrug tested Nicolas’ reflexes, in the 56th minute Reus hit the crossbar. The Fohlens only timidly try to react, but fail to create real opportunities. From midway through the second half Dortmund slowed down the pace, with Gladbach starting to increase ball possession and play the game. In reality, the yellow and blacks concede nothing (indeed they find the 4-2 on the counterattack, previously avoided by Nicolas, with Malen) and take home three important points, which were unexpected at a certain point in the match.
the others
—
Leverkusen spreads at Werder and regains the top spot: 34 points won out of the 36 available. No one has ever done better. Freiburg drew 1-1 with Darmstadt, while Leipzig lost 2-1 against Wolfsburg. Union Berlin avoided yet another defeat at the end, drawing 1-1 at home with Augsburg, leaving Cologne in last place.
