Bulgaria’s Prosecutor General’s Office has launched an investigation into an employee of the Russian embassy in Sofia, who is suspected of spying for Moscow. This was announced by Bulgarian Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Teodora Genchovska, follows from messages departments.
A criminal case was opened against the diplomat under Art. 104 of the Criminal Code of Bulgaria. He is suspected of spying for a foreign state. The prosecutor’s office believes that the diplomat allegedly collected information constituting a state secret and passed it on to the other side. “He is accredited as the first secretary at the Russian embassy,” the prosecutor’s office said.
