“Buffy” cast reunites for new project

The series is set to take place ten years after the events of the series finale and continue with Vampire Spike.

The ensemble of “Buffy” has come back together for a new action 20 years after the end of the vampire series. They have recorded an audio format around Vampire Spike. In the Audible drama, titled Slayers: A Buffyverse Story, we are catapulted back ten years after the events of the final episode and follow the vampire Spike (then played and now voiced by James Marsters).

The Plot: In Los Angeles, Spike goes undercover to infiltrate the ranks of the dark forces. But his plan is unraveled when 16-year-old vampire hunter Indira Nunnally (voiced by Laya DeLeon Hayes) discovers his true identity. To find someone who can look after the young hunter, he enters a parallel universe in which Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) is the only hunter. She recruits Spike to fight Drusilla (Juliet Landau) – an old acquaintance of Spike’s.

But other well-known names also appear in the credits. Also starring are Anthony Head (Giles), Emma Caulfield (Anya), Amber Benson (Tara), James Charles Leary (Clem) and Danny Strong (Jonathan). Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played the eponymous Buffy Summers for seven years, is not there. Gellar previously said that she was happy with how “Buffy” ended and preferred to leave the iconic series as it was.

The audio drama was written by Amber Benson, together with author Christopher Golden. Directing was shared by Benson, Golden and Kc Wayland. The spectacle will be available to listen to on “Audible” from October 12, 2023.
