Buddy Vedder’s new television show is in danger after an urgent advice to RTL 4 to cancel it. “I would really advise against it. In fact, everything about it just failed!”
Buddy Vedder has recorded a new program that RTL 4 is doing together with the Belgians, namely Tulips from Antwerp. Flemish singers and predictable Dutch artists such as Samantha Steenwijk sing songs from each other’s country. Painfully enough, the program in our southern neighbors has been completely slaughtered by reviewers and viewers.
‘Not to peek’
While the program is already running on Flemish television, TV expert Tina Nijkamp has understood that the broadcasts in our country are still a long time coming. Tulips from Antwerp would have been sent back to the editing table and are in the pipeline for the summer.
However, according to AD media journalist Marcus den Blanken, RTL 4 can write the show off better. He watched the premiere episode via the Belgians and says: “I’ve been watching perhaps the most horrendous show of the past five years. It really wasn’t to look at. It was terrible,” he says in the AD Media podcast.
‘Do not do it!’
Star of the newspaper Angela de Jong on that: “And it will be on RTL 4, so we are looking forward to it!”
Marcus: “No, I would really advise RTL 4 not to do that. I’ll go through the candidates with you: in Belgium they send Bart Peeters, Belle Perez and another nice singing duo. We send Samantha Steenwijk.”
Fellow journalist Dennis Jansen sarcastically: “Well, we haven’t seen that one in a while, have we?”
Eight fun minutes
Who else is participating? Marcus: “The former singer of Di-rect: Tim Akkerman, but now: what does he do? I think imitate Bruce Springsteen. Name all his hits! And then someone who gathers all the music together: Bizzey. Sorry, that is already a bit that it is not balanced.”
He continues: “The conversations that were in between really made no sense. Only the songs of Bart Peeters and another Belgian candidate were nice and that was about it. It lasted over an hour and I think I saw eight fun minutes. I think that is a shame for a big show.”
“Everything Failed”
Angela surprised: “Don’t you think this just never gets on the screen at RTL?”
Marcus: “No, I would really advise against it. I thought the decor was ugly, I actually thought everything about it failed.”
Can’t this be saved on the editing table? “Well, I would make some adjustments to those conversations in between anyway, but I don’t think you can save this at the editing table.”
