Buddy Vedder has deliberately taken a TV break in the past six months after the grandiose failure of Deal or no Deal. “I had to take a step back to come across as sincere again.”
It must have been very tough for Buddy Vedder that he received so much criticism for the way he presented the daily quiz Deal or no Deal last winter. People called it too pubescent and thought he looked fake; he would do his very best to imitate Beau van Erven Dorens.
Buddy of the tube
Now Buddy is back on the tube as a presenter of Holland’s Got Talent and that’s a big success, but where was he the rest of the year? “Well, I’ve hardly been on TV from February until now,” he says in the AD.
He continues: “I was a little tired of myself, had done the presentation of Deal or No Deal, which was 101 episodes; The Masked Singer, ten episodes; The Voice Kids, eight. At one point I thought: I have to take a step back to come across as sincere again.”
‘I wasn’t sincere’
Buddy felt a little fake on television and he wanted to turn that around. “Otherwise you’ll get me to say, ‘Oh, how nice of you to be here. Nice,’ while I just don’t feel it. And you notice that as a viewer.”
So now he does Holland’s Got Talent and that was the big winner on prime time yesterday with 1.2 million viewers (25 percent) on RTL 4. “Where the Thursday is for NPO 1, Friday is for RTL 4. What a wonderful figures, in the target group 20 to 54 years everything from 6 pm, except Jinek, above 35 percent. Insanely high!”, says Tina Nijkamp.
Astrid Joosten on two
The second most watched program on prime time yesterday was the Astrid Joosten quiz Twee voor Twaalf with 982 thousand viewers (20 percent) on NPO 2. The top three is completed by NPO 1’s Flikken Rotterdam with 957 thousand viewers (20 percent). .
Of the programs that started at half past nine, Today Inside (715 thousand and 17 percent) scored best, followed by NPO 1’s Evenblij Maak Vrienden (567 thousand and 13 percent) and NPO 2’s Nieuwsuur (514 thousand and 12 percent).
