Seven Buddhist monks have been arrested and taken into custody as part of an investigation into an embezzlement worth €7.5 million. The money had previously been donated to a temple. Some Buddhist temples in Thailand are known to be extremely prosperous as their followers donate significant amounts of money as a way of accumulating religious merit.
