Klaus in need of explanation
After the next heavy defeat at newly promoted Eintracht Braunschweig, 1. FC Nürnberg loses sight of the promotion places in the 2nd Bundesliga. After a dominant start, the “Club” lost 2:4 (2:2) against the previously winless bottom of the table on Friday evening. Robert Klauß’s team gambled away a two-time lead by midfielder Jens Castrop (10th minute) and striker Kwadwo Duah (29th). After only seven points from seven games, the coach is slowly finding it difficult to explain.
The 17,173 spectators at Eintracht Stadium witnessed an amazing game. The hosts just ran after helplessly at first, before they finally deservedly won, led by the outstanding double goal scorer Fabio Kaufmann (13./61.). Anthony Ujah (44th) and Immanuel Pherai (59th) scored the other Eintracht goals with a remarkable long-range shot. A clear increase in performance and the double strike after the break were decisive.
Initially, the injury-plagued Nuremberg had determined the game. They were superior in midfield. Defensively, however, there was no stability whatsoever. Goalkeeper Christian Mathenia looked bad at Kaufmann’s first goal in the short corner. After the 2: 4, the rebellion was unsuccessful, Lino Tempelmann hit the crossbar (79th).
1. FC Heidenheim beats Fortuna Düsseldorf and climbs to the top
Tim Kleindienst shot 1. FC Heidenheim to the top. The striker decided the chasing duel with Fortuna Düsseldorf on Friday evening with his winning goal to make it 2-1 (1-0). At least until Saturday, the Heidenheimers will take the lead in the standings. Fortuna could have taken first place with a threesome. The defeat keeps coach Daniel Thioune’s team in fifth place.
In an intense game, Heidenheim took the lead through Adrian Beck (22′) before Dawid Kownacki made it 1-1 in the 59th minute. Dusseldorf put pressure on. The goal came for the FCH through Kleindienst (87th). Kownacki missed the early lead for the guests after 15 minutes. Things went better for Beck on the other side. After a header from Kleindienst, he steered the ball over the line.
After the change of sides, the midfielder remained the most conspicuous Heidenheimer. But once he failed on the crossbar (56th) and only two minutes later Fortuna goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier stood in the way of the 2-0. So Düsseldorf could continue to hope for a point win – especially after Kownacki’s equalizer. Fortuna was more active in the final phase, but Kleindienst took advantage of one of the few chances and secured FCH’s fourth win of the season.
