The Textile Shoes Leather Goods Trade Association (BTE) has appointed Axel Augustin as Managing Director. In his new function, the previous BTE spokesman has been responsible for the areas of business administration, marketing consulting, press and public relations, member information, events, home and household textiles and leather goods since January 1, according to the industry organization.
Augustin succeeded former Deputy General Manager Siegfried Jacobs, who retired at the end of the year. Rolf Pangels remains chief executive of the association, who also acts as executive director of the Institute of German Textile Retailing (ITE GmbH).
The association also announced the opening of its new office in Berlin. As announced in November, the branch in the capital will be managed by Eva Maria Schaffner. She will be “supported by colleagues from the Cologne BTE office as needed and on occasion” in order to “further intensify the political and technical work of the BTE,” according to a statement.
