The action film Jurassic World: A New Age hit theaters on June 9th. Now, actress Bryce Dallas Howard has told Howard that she was asked to lose weight before filming for her role as Claire, the park’s director.

In an interview for Metro, the actress said, “How do I put it… [Ich wurde] asked not to use my natural body in the cinema. Actually, with the third film, because there were so many women, it was something that Colin really cared about, to protect me…because the conversation came up again, ‘We’ve got to ask Bryce to pick up the phone’.”

    Howard was not convinced

The film was directed by Colin Trevorrow, whose requirements Howard rejected because she considers her body to be “maximum strength”: “There are many different types of women on this planet and there are many different types of women in our film . And I was able to do so many stunts that wouldn’t have been possible if I was on a diet. I’m really excited about all the action that I was able to do and I was able to do it with my body, it was at its maximum strength and I hope that’s just another indication of what’s possible.” .

Lower fee than that of Chris Pratt

She also revealed that she was paid less than her colleague Chris Pratt, who plays game warden Owen in the film. Speaking to Insider, she said: “When I first started dealing for Jurassic, it was 2014 and it was a different world and I was at a huge disadvantage. And unfortunately you have to sign for three films and that’s how the contracts are set.”

Nevertheless, it was Pratt who supported her in further negotiations: “Chris and I talked about it, and whenever there was an opportunity to move something that had not yet been negotiated, he literally said to me, ‘You don’t have to do anything do. I’ll do all the negotiations. We’ll get paid right away and you don’t have to worry about that,” Howard continued.

No more prequel for Jurassic World

Jurassic World: A New Age is the third installment in the Jurassic World film series. The first part “Jurassic World” was released in cinemas in 2015. This was followed in 2018 by the sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The trilogy should not be expanded in the future – “Jurassic World: A New Era” should complete the story about the huge amusement park. The finale is currently still in German cinemas.
