Brut propels the Cannes Film Festival on Fortnite with a 100% virtual version

In a press release issued on May 4, Brut unveils its new collaboration with the Cannes film festival. This year, the French media saw things in a big way: the Cannes Film Festival will also be held on Fortnite, in a 100% virtual environment. It’s a first.

Brut, official partner of the Cannes Film Festival for several years, wants to offer a new experience to Fortnite players by offering them a virtual version of the Cannes Film Festival. From May 17 to 28, 2022, they will be able to experience the Cannes Film Festival through the eyes of three different characters: a journalist, an actor or a director.

With this project, Brut wants connect the world of cinema to the virtual worlds that appeal to the youngest. The idea is to “to tell the story of the Festival in a different way, and to make it accessible to everyone thanks to Fortnite, one of the most popular video games in the world”. With this new experience, Brut wants to reach the next generation

With the help of Vysena, a French studio renowned worldwide for its virtual creations, Brut has designed this experience with players and for players. Brut has also received support from Epic Games on this project. The map will include an exclusive visual and sound universe, ultra-realistic. Beyond the three roles offered by the basic scenarios, players will also be able to access other quests which will notably concern on more engaged topicssuch as climate change or issues of inclusion and diversity in society.

According to Guillaume Lacroix, co-founder and CEO of Brut, “It was important for us to steer the Cannes Film Festival towards a format acclaimed by new generations. The biggest film festival in the world must be accessible to everyone and video game platforms are the perfect way to engage this generation”. For months, Brut has developed specific expertise on these new formats. With the development of virtual universes, this strategy is only the natural extension media engagement.
