Brussels girl (13) who was lured to France by false boyfriend found safely | Domestic

The local Brussels police and the French police were able to find a 13-year-old girl who had run away from her boyfriend, whom she had met on the internet. There the boy had pretended to be a 17-year-old, while in reality he was 19 years old and already known for rape. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office reported this on Monday.

“The thirteen-year-old girl, a quiet and inquisitive child, had run away from her parents on February 3 for the young man she had met on the internet,” the public prosecutor’s office said. “He pretended to be 17 years old when he was actually 19 years old. The girl did not have access to the internet at home, so she contacted him outside the home without her parents’ knowledge. The young girl, who was seduced and trusted the stranger, decided to leave her music lessons with her “boyfriend”. She followed him to France, thinking he was the man of her life and that she was ready to leave home.”

“After analysis, it turned out that the young man was known to the French police for raping a vulnerable person,” the public prosecutor’s office continues. “Fortunately, thanks to the quick action of the Disappearances Unit of the Brussels Capital/Ixelles police zone, in collaboration with the French police, the girl could be found safely.”

Following this incident, the police and the public prosecutor’s office are once again drawing the attention of young people and parents to the dangers of online meetings and cyber luring. More information about this can be found on the Child Focus website.
