Brunstingerplas must become the new hotspot of Central Drenthe

The Brunstingerplas has been sold to Appelscha Outdoor. And there are plans ready for a major transformation: from fish pond to Waterpark ‘Meer Drenthe’.

The plan focuses on sports, recreation and education. For example, there should be a water ski track, floating jungle and a play stream. There is also room to throw out your fishing rod.

Appelscha Outdoor, or ‘The Boys of Outdoor’, want to attract a wide audience with this interpretation of the area, such as students, athletes, tourists, and everything in between. For the hungry visitor, a pavilion has also been included in the plan, as well as a reception. The plan was submitted in collaboration with Strand Sneek.

“The surprising plan for Waterpark ‘Meer Drenthe’ makes optimal use of the lake,” says deputy Henk Brink. Alderman Jan Schipper is also enthusiastic: “With the activities to be realized, the Brunstingerplas has the potential to become a recreational hotspot in Central Drenthe.”

According to the plan, the new buildings and activities will remain in the ‘inner ring’ as much as possible. As a result, the view from the outside remains the same as much as possible. In terms of parking facilities, the plan points to the northeast side of the lake.
