Brunssum politician about asylum deal: ‘Certificate of inability’

On Friday, the CDA, together with the other government parties – VVD, D66 and ChristenUnie – agreed to the plans regarding the approach to asylum reception. It states, among other things, that family reunification is only allowed until the end of 2023 if they also have a home. The aim is to reduce the number of new asylum seekers. The Brunssum politician calls this ‘a disgrace’ in the newspaper. “This touches the core of what we stand for as Christian Democrats: justice and solidarity,” says Plas. “Refugees are our neighbors, and equal to everyone else.”
