Bruges schools join forces with overlapping nursery education

Toddlers and preschoolers who go to school in De Frères or Sint-Andreas will be welcome in the Sacred Heart School from next school year. At the moment, both toddlers and preschoolers from the first year still go to De Frères or Sint-Andreas. From the second kindergarten class, toddlers can then move on to Sint-Andreasschool or De Frères.

Both schools each retain their own approach and operation with clear differences. ‘Parents will be able to choose between Sint-Andreas or De Frères when choosing the second kindergarten class. A pedagogical consideration, but also a practical one, because one can take into account, for example, the place of residence’, says Martine Fontaine, director of the Sint-Andreasschool.

‘Both schools each retain their own approach and operation with clear differences. The parents can then, when choosing the second kindergarten class, consider what the best pedagogical choice is for their child, in addition to the practical side.’

The collaboration comes about because they can better meet the needs of the little ones at the Sacred Heart School. There will not be a new name for both schools, in order to maintain their recognisability in Bruges city centre.

Even outside the school walls

‘We want to create a warm transition to our nursery education with attention to care and learning. And will also work within the framework of a broad school on quality care before and after school, during school holidays and days off. In order to complete the project completely, they also hope to collaborate with a daycare centre’, conclude the directors of both schools.
