Bruges school evacuated following alarm gas detection system

The management immediately decided to evacuate 1,100 students. The emergency services and utility company Fluvius immediately arrived on the scene.

Mayor Dirk De fauw: “The utility services quickly arrived on site and established that the alarm signal may have been the result of a power failure. Additional measurements are currently being carried out as a precaution. All students and teachers are now safe and well. We are preparing a shelter in the area in case the utilities deem additional interventions necessary.”
