The man was arrested last night. He rang the doorbell at around 10 p.m. at a house near the house where the mayor of Bruges lives. He asked about the mayor and that caused suspicion among the residents.
They immediately called the police and they arrived very quickly. The man was seen by police in the driveway of the mayor’s home. He had a knife in his hands. The man was aggressive when arrested by police.
He appeared before the investigating judge in the afternoon, who placed him under arrest. He is suspected of unlawful carrying of weapons and assault.
