Bruges had 8.3 million visitors in 2023 and equals…

Since 2015, Visit Bruges has had its own visitor barometer in which various data are collected based on mobile telephony data. This concerns visitor types, numbers and origin. The data now shows that almost 6.1 million people came to Bruges for a day last year. That is more than 17% more than in 2022. The number of stay-over tourists is also on the rise. Together they accounted for approximately 1.8 million overnight stays.

Alderman for Tourism Mieke Hoste explains the figures: “Last year, hotel occupancy in Bruges was 70% and that is in line with our international benchmark. Anyone who spends the night in a hotel room in Bruges pays an average of 124 euros, which is 11 euros less compared to our benchmark cities, so not expensive at all.”
