Ticket prices for an upcoming tour by musician Bruce Springsteen, 72, and the E Street Band caused a bit of an uproar last week. Now Springsteen’s manager is commenting on the situation.
– When pricing this tour, we looked carefully at what other similar artists have done. We chose prices that are partly lower than others, manager Jon Landau commented.
Ticket prices for the musician’s 2023 US tour soared into the thousands of dollars due to a huge rush to buy. The price increase was made possible by the system of the Ticketmaster sales service, which changes ticket prices according to their demand.
– Regardless of what has been said about the small number of tickets in the $1000 Price Class, the actual average price of tickets is in the $200 range. I think it’s a fair price in this day and age to see one of the greatest artists of his generation, Landau defends ticket prices.

Permanno’s tickets were the most expensive at $4,000-$5,000 each, and the worst seats, i.e. the upper stands, were in the hundreds of dollars when the first tickets for the tour were released for sale.
However, in his comments, the manager did not take a direct stand on the thousands of dollars worth of tickets, which, for example, were discussed on Twitter on the day of the sale.
– $4,400 apiece for Tampa permanno, anyone? People wondered on Twitter.
The marketing system aroused resentment among buyers. They compared the pricing to the sales system of plane tickets and hotel rooms, where their prices vary precisely according to demand. Some left the tickets completely unpurchased due to the changing pricing.
Bruce Springsteen has not commented on the incident personally.
