Lucinda Williams will release her new LP, Stories From a Rock N Roll Heart, on June 30th. The album is the singer’s first since “Good Souls Better Angels” in 2020 and was created under special conditions after her stroke in November of the same year.

Because Williams’ motor skills are now impaired, playing the guitar is no longer as successful as it used to be. To compensate, she turned to her husband and manager Tom Overby, Jesse Malin (who co-wrote the single “New York Comeback”) and longtime road manager Travis Stephens for help with the compilation.

Tribute to Tom Petty and Bob Stinson

She also received additional support for this. Bruce Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa can also be heard singing on the record. Other guests on the LP include Angel Olsen, The Replacements’ Tommy Stinson, Margo Price, Jeremy Ivey and Buddy Miller.

According to the record label, Lucinda Williams pays homage to late heroes Tom Petty (“Stolen Moments”) and Replacements guitarist Bob Stinson (“Hum’s Liquor”) on two songs. Springsteen and Scialfa are on the track “Rock N Roll Heart”.

2023 is a very active year for the singer. She recently presented her autobiography “Don’t Tell Anybody The Secrets I Told You” and is on a world tour.
