In an interview with the American ROLLING STONE, Bruce Springsteen talked about a possible successor to the “Tracks” album released in 1998, which mainly consisted of songs that had not yet been released. He also spoke about the 2023 E Street Band tour, ticket pricing design and his cover album Only the Strong Survive. The German ROLLING STONE issue 01/23 will contain an exclusive 7″ single with songs from the record and can be pre-ordered here.

When asked if he was planning “some kind of Tracks 2 box,” Springsteen replied, “Yes. I have a box of five unreleased albums from 1988 and after.” He goes on to say that many people are skeptical about his career in the ’90s: “The ’90s wasn’t a good decade for Bruce.” The truth is “I made a lot of music during that time,” he says, and then explains why the albums never came out: “For one reason or another, because the timing wasn’t right.” So Springsteen used the past winters to “clean out the safe”. Of the music on the records he says, “Some of it is older material that the band plays on and some of it is newer material that I conceived at that time. It will give people a chance to re-evaluate what I’ve done during that time. Also, a lot of that stuff is really weird. There’s going to be people who really… I can’t wait to see the reactions to some of this.”

>>> Order here – the exclusive 7″ inch, only in the ROLLING STONE On the A side “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)”, a cover version by Frank Wilson; on the B side “Nightshift”a hit by the Commodores.

Explains the reason for his anticipation with the words: “I’ve been reading about this mythical drum loop album for years. This will be as weird as people think. But it really just uses drum loops and stuff like that, and it uses synthesizers.” When asked when the album is due out, however, he simply replied: “In the near future.”
