Bruce Springsteen has released another foretaste of his upcoming soul covers album. On Friday, the boss released his version of the Commodores’ song “Nightshift” as the second single. The album “Only The Strong Survive” is scheduled for release on November 11th.

An accompanying statement said the track was “an essential song choice in the early creation of ‘Only the Strong Survive'”. He inspired Springsteen, his producer Rob Aniello and sound engineer Rob Lebret to call themselves “The Nightshift” for this album. “I put my own fingerprint on the vocals, and my team has mastered and tonally modernized some of the most beautiful songs in the American pop catalogue,” Springsteen said of the album.

Springsteen had already released the first single “Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)” in September, which was originally written by Frank Wilson. The album consists of songs by American soul singers and bands such as Jerry Butler and The Four Tops. Springsteen is accompanied by the brass section of the E Street Band, and there is also a feature from soul singer Sam Moore.
