Recommendations of the Editorial team
Last year Bruce Dickinson threw the solo album “The Mandrake Project” into the world. There were also four editions of a comic series of the same name, which should grow to 12 parts.
In addition to a tour of the project that starts on August 22nd in Anaheim, California, the first graphic novels are now published on August 05 in a special edition. It is printed with ink, some of which comes from the earth of the grave of William Blake.
“The Mandrake Project: Year One” costs $ 299, but contains numerous extras. There are also two more cheaper variants. In a press release, it says: “The oversized, 184-page deluxe editions (…) contain interviews and essays that trace the path of Dickinson and the creative team to bring the album, tour and comic series to life.”
Bruce Dickinson and his veneration for William Blake
The book contains an introduction of “Sons of Anarchy” creator Kurt Sutter and is housed in an exquisite Schuber with a rotating, shaped Alraunen dial. It is bound with a seal and gold paper border.
The slipcase also includes four exclusive foil collector cards and the cast metal medallion of the mandrake project. This can be seen in the comics and music videos. “This book is a must for all lovers of Iron Maiden, Bruce Dickinson and supernatural stories!”
And why William Blake now? The ingenious English poet (1757-1827) inspired Dickinson directly to his “Mandrake Project”. The dark storytelling of the songs and the pictures in the comics goes back to the natural mystic.
In May 2024 it was also announced that Dickinson took on the role of a patron for William Blake Cottage Trust, which has the blakes only preserved house.
The singer of Iron Maiden: “Despite his influence on the world, there is no center for Blake, nowhere can people see where he actually lived and worked during an important part of his life. I want to change this.”
Part of the revenues of “The Mandrake Project: Year One” and probably also the tour will also benefit William Blake.
