A 22-year-old woman and her 13-year-old brother were found dead in a reservoir in the German city of Thuringia. Their parents had launched a search and reported them missing. In all likelihood, they entered the frozen lake on foot.

They both probably fell through the ice of the lake. The young woman and her little brother were rescued lifeless from the reservoir by divers on Saturday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

The two were on their way by car on Friday and were reported missing by their mother shortly before midnight. When the two did not return home, the parents went looking for their children. They then found their daughter’s car at the reservoir and alerted the police, the spokeswoman said. According to the police spokeswoman, the ice layer on the lake was not very thick. Police and water rescue service used divers and a dog to search for the two.

According to the police, it was an accident. At the moment there are no indications of malicious intent, they still report.
