Broken ATM in Moorsele repaired next week

The ATM was created on the initiative of a municipal council. It was also Belgium’s first “municipal” ATM and the municipality of Moorsele is said to have paid about 126,000 euros over four years for it.

Technical error

The cause of the broken ATM could be a technical manufacturing defect or an internal contact. The machine was immediately very popular with the inhabitants. A lot of money was withdrawn in the first days and about a third of the inhabitants had already used the ATM.

Fixed next week

The goal of the municipality of Moorsele is to have the ATM repaired by next Wednesday. Today technicians came to look at the device to analyze what exactly is wrong and a full recovery by next Wednesday certainly seems possible.
