This is what we were missing: According to preliminary calculations by financial experts, the broadcasting fee should rise from 18.36 euros to 18.94 euros per month from 2025.
According to information from the German Press Agency, this emerges from a draft from the KEF expert committee that became known on Friday – the commission wants to make a final recommendation to the federal states, which have the final say on the amount of contributions, at the beginning of 2024.
But one thing is clear: Many Germans no longer want to accept that the contribution continues to rise. And there are critics in politics too.
Prominent critic: Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (69, CDU). He recently clearly rejected further increases at BILD in the summer.
His tough announcement: First the public service reform plans have to be put on the table, otherwise there won’t be any more money!
Haseloff at the time: “An increase in contributions cannot be communicated to the population!” Because public broadcasting cannot remain as it is today.
Haseloff: “Why do there have to be around 20 public television and 70 radio programs as well as countless social media formats? This is too much of the same. There are too many entertainment programs being broadcast.” Contrary to the mandate, education, culture and information are underrepresented.
