Employment agency Randstad has achieved record turnover in the second quarter. This is mainly due to the shortage on the labor market, says CEO Sander van ‘t Noordende. Because it is difficult for companies to find sufficient staff, they increasingly use employment agencies such as Randstad.
Turnover in the months of April, May and June increased by 13 percent and amounted to almost 6.9 billion euros.
Especially in North America and Southern Europe, employers more often called on the employment agency. In the Netherlands, Randstad’s turnover was 1 percent more in the past quarter than in the same quarter last year. According to Van ‘t Noordende, this is mainly because there was still a lot of work related to the corona pandemic last year. This allowed more people to work in the test streets.
There is still a lot of uncertainty due to high inflation and the gas crisis. The employment agency therefore finds it difficult to make predictions for the rest of the year. Temporary workers are often quickly affected by cutbacks at companies.
