The names of royals accused of racist comments slipped into the Dutch version of the book.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s credit editor Omid Scobie recently published his book Endgamein which he shares his own view of the royal feuds.
Duchess Meghan already claimed in 2021 that two members of the court worriedly speculated about the couple’s first-born son Archie’s skin color before this one was even born.
The Dutch version of Scobie’s book claimed that King Charles and Princess Catherine were behind the comments. There were no names in the original public version.
The British media initially decided not to report the names at all. Since then, British presenter Piers Morgan revealed the names on TV, after which the names have slowly started to be used.
After it was revealed, Scobie denied that he had named the royals in the book and blamed the translators. He also commented that the names were already generally known before the book unveilings.
The translators dispute
According to an article published by the Daily Mail on Monday, it has survivedthat the version sent to Holland for translation came directly from Scobie’s agent.
Endgame translated into Dutch Saskia Peeters tells the magazine that he did not add the names to the book during the translation stage, but that they were in the version delivered to him.
– I’m just a translator. I translate what I see, Peeters commented to the Daily Mail.
– It was black and white. The names were in that book. I haven’t added anything. I just did what I was paid to do, which was to translate the book from English to Dutch.
Second translator of the book Nellie Keukelaar-van Rijsbergern commented with a touch that the translators are experienced professionals and it is unfair to blame them in this situation.
