Britney Spears has shared excerpts from her upcoming autobiography, The Woman In Me, which will be released on October 24th. She posted an excerpt from the book on social media, describing her feelings about fame and her career.
Britney Spears: “I didn’t know what I was doing”
One of these excerpts states: “I actually envy the people who know how to make fame work for them. My demeanor was innocent – and it wasn’t an act. I didn’t know what I was doing.”
In another section, she says she felt like she was living on the edge of an abyss and thanked those who were there for her when she couldn’t defend herself. Among other things, she specifically explains: “I felt like I was living on the edge of a cliff.”
Michelle Williams sets the audio book to music
Despite the personal insights into the book, Spears has also announced that she will not read the audio book version herself. Reliving her experiences was emotionally very challenging for her. Spears emphasized that working on the book was both healing and therapeutic for her, but also difficult as she had to relive past events in her life.
Instead, actress Michelle Williams (“The Fablemans”) narrated the work – and Spears only narrated the introduction.
