Publishers are said to have fought hard over the life story of Spears in recent months. Especially now that the 40-year-old singer is no longer under her father’s supervision and can therefore speak freely. According to the New York Post, it is one of the highest amounts ever paid for memoirs. The record is held by former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle. They received more than $60 million in 2017.
Last month, Spears criticized her sister Jamie Lynn’s new memoir, which details their personal lives and childhood. In a lengthy Instagram post, Britney complained about her sister for not being around much growing up and never understanding the true intensity of her custody. “So why is she even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense? She never had to work for anything. Everything was always given to her!” The younger Spears clapped back in an interview, saying Spears’ criticisms were “definitely not the truth”.
