British rap artist Pa Salieu, 25, has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison. He was accused of violent behavior and using a bottle as a weapon.

In the 2018 crime in Coventry, Salieu was part of a group of nine men who chased down and assaulted a 23-year-old man. A moment before what happened, Salieu’s friend Fidel Glasgow was stabbed to death in a mass brawl. The investigation of the case in question is still ongoing.

According to the prosecutor, Salieu threw a bottle at the victim when the group finally caught him. After that, the rapper hit the victim in the head with a tree branch and kicked him. The victim’s injuries forced him to undergo immediate and large-scale surgery. He spent a total of ten days in the hospital.

Salieu claimed in court that he was only defending himself, as he thought the man was armed.

The judge did not believe Salieu’s reasoning. PDO

– I have fully respected this process. I have been to court on time every time. I constantly try to show people with my work that you can get to something from my hometown. But what can you do if the police, the justice system or the UK Home Office don’t care about you? Salieu asked in court.

However, the judge did not accept Salieu’s self-defense explanation, but sent the 25-year-old rapper to prison.

– I want you to get your life on track and realize all your potential. I believe you can do it, the judge told Salieu.

Salieu has a recording contract with Warner Records. He released his first mixtape in November 2020. The following year, he won a music critics’ poll organized by the BBC, which was looking for promising new musical talents.

Salieu was supposed to perform in Finland at Flow Festival in August, but he couldn’t make it due to visa problems.
