British press has little doubt: “West Ham beats AZ”

Tonight is the day for AZ. The Alkmaarders play the first leg in the semi-finals of the Conference League. To reach the final, West Ham United will have to be dealt with. The London football club has had a lousy season in its own national league. Nevertheless, the British journalists still see the home team as the favourite.

“It’s been a tough season for West Ham. They’ve had to fight relegation for the most part. But they had a great result this Sunday. A 1-0 win over Manchester United,” said Sky Sports journalist James Cole. “You feel that a lot of pressure has now been lifted off West Ham’s shoulders.”

“They spent 165 million pounds last summer”

Journalist Greg Robertson

Fellow journalist Greg Robertson of The Times thinks West Ham’s big wallet will pay off. “They have a strong team now. They spent £165 million on several players last summer. They are in better shape this season in Europe than in the league.”

The game between West Ham United and AZ starts tonight at 9 p.m. NH Sport is present in London and will keep you informed of all developments before, during and after the game through several articles, videos and a live blog.
