The British tennis player Tara Moore has been closed by the International Sports Court CAS and the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) for doping until the beginning of the 2028 season.

The 32-year-old was tested positively for the anabolic steroids Boldenon and Nandrolon during a tournament in April 2022 in Bogota, Colombia.

In December 2023, Moore was still acquitted: An independent court decided at the time that she did not negligence the steroids.

However, this decision was not officially. The ITIA saw it differently and brought the case in front of the CAS. Moore had been temporarily closed since the end of 2023.

The CAS sports court also appealed against the decision of the independent court and now officially imposed a four -year lock against former number 145 in the world. This has been running since its provisional lock in December 2023 and until the beginning of the 2028 season.

Tennis player Moore closed: “Not adequately explained”

ITIA managing director Karen Moorhouse explained the decision: “Our yardstick for an appeal against a first instance decision is high, and the decision is not made lightly. In this case, our independent scientific report found that the player did not adequately explain the high nandrolon value in its sample.”

Moore, born in Hong-Kong himself, explained that the shares came up with the consumption of beef and/or pork in Colombia.

The CAS also went into this defense in a statement: “After examining the scientific and legal evidence, the majority of the CAS committee believed that the player was unable to prove that the Nandrolon concentration in its sample was compatible with taking contamed meat.”

Most recently, the tennis stars Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek were closed before their later Wimbledon winner in 2025.
