British Home Secretary Suella Braverman has resigned. Report that The Guardian and Sky News based on anonymous sources. The new Treasury Secretary Jeremy Hunt is said to have pushed for her resignation.
Less than a week earlier, Finance Minister Kwasi Kwarteng resigned at the request of Prime Minister Liz Truss. Quarter’s ‘mini-budget’ with tax cuts that were not covered in the budget caused turmoil in the financial markets and criticism of the Truss cabinet. Hunt reversed the tax cuts shortly after taking office.
Braverman was previously the Secretary of State for Brexit Affairs in Theresa May’s cabinet. She resigned in November 2018 along with a number of other cabinet members because of the course May had taken around the United Kingdom’s departure from the European Union.
