British environmental organization ClientEarth starts legal proceedings against Shell over climate policy | Abroad

The agreement at the end of 2015 states that global warming must be limited to 2 degrees and preferably 1.5 degrees. Shell is not doing enough for that, according to ClientEarth. The organization has sent the company a letter with its demands. That is the first formal step in a legal procedure. If the demands are not met, they will go to court.

ClientEarth lawyer Paul Benson called Shell’s climate policy ‘fundamentally flawed’ in a statement.
