NFT album at number one on the charts

NFTs are finding their way into the music industry more and more. Now even the British band Muse has managed to take first place in the UK charts with their new album “Will Of The People”, for the first time ever with an album with integrated NFT features. As BTC Echo reports, the new record is also available as a so-called “digital pressing”. A collaboration with label Warner Music UK and digital collection platform Serenade has made it possible for fans to purchase NFTs of the new album worldwide, which include a special cover art and downloadable music files in FLAC format.

According to t3n, a total of 1,000 copies of the limited NFT versions of the album were for sale on the NFT marketplace Serenade. Serenade is a green crypto platform powered by Polygon whose purpose is to help artists capitalize on the current NFT hype. The cost of the NFT album was 20 pounds or the equivalent of 23.77 euros. The collection is now sold out, and the NFT version of the album can now only be purchased via the large NFT marketplace OpenSea.

Owners receive exclusive benefits

All Muse fans who have managed to snag one of the NFT versions of “Will Of The People” can now enjoy the special benefits that come with owning the digital pressing. These include download versions of the songs, a special sleeve and digital autographs from the three band members. In addition, the names of all 1,000 buyers appear in the linked buyer list. If you want to resell your copy of the NFT album for a profit, you can of course do so on the secondary market. This also supports the artists, because 15 percent of the resale price goes to the band and their team.

According to t3n, Sebastian Simone, Vice President of Audience and Strategy at Warner Records UK, was asked in an interview ahead of the album’s release whether there was a risk that the limited number of NFT copies could potentially skew the chart positioning. However, the manager didn’t think that risk existed: “If you want to hit the charts, there are definitely ways to do that. With Muse, that’s not strictly necessary as they [bereits] Have tens of thousands of pre-orders. We assume that number 1 will be very clear this week,” said Simone in the interview. And he was right, because “Will Of The People” landed clearly at number one in the UK charts.

In fact, this isn’t the first time Muse has started a project related to the crypto world: in 2020, the band had already released their own collectibles in collaboration with CryptoKitties. It remains to be seen whether there will be other crypto projects by the British band in the future.
