Brit Samuel Watson sprints to victory in Kattekoers
Early on in the race, the Estonian Artjom Köster, the Let Pauls Rubenis and the Spaniard Jokin Murguialday, who is already a professional with Caja Rural, take to the water. The escapees run 4 minutes, but the first passage through the hill zone at about 60 kilometers from the finish quickly reduces their lead.
Crossing on plugstreets
On the plugstreets, with about 40 kilometers to go, six riders make the crossing to the leading group. Samuel Watson, Adam Holm Jorgensen, Romain Grégoire, Axel Huens, Bodi Del Grosso and Sakarias Koller Loland join.
Action on Kemmelberg
Not much later, on the second ascent of the Monteberg, everything comes together again. The following Kemmelberg tempts a few guys to accelerate and Soren Waerenskjold, pro at Uno-X, continues alone. However, the peloton keeps the Norwegian at 20 seconds and overtakes him at 10 km from the finish.
In the final kilometres, among others, Alec Segaert tries to break away with two others, but it will be a sprint with a large group. The British Samuel Watson, as a junior still winner of the Guido Reybrouck Classic, beats the Dane Changizi and the Frenchman Retailleau.
