Brioni breathes new life into the women’s collection

For the first time in years, the Italian luxury brand Brioni is presenting a women’s collection. The classic fashion label, which mainly designs semi-formal clothing for men, has launched a capsule called ‘La Donna’. It will go on sale starting this fall, reports FashionNetwork, citing a press release.

Brioni, now a subsidiary of the luxury group Kering, has been around since 1945. In the early noughties, the brand experimented with women’s clothing – at that time there were even catwalk shows for them. However, according to FashionNetwork, Brioni gave up its women’s line again in 2011 because it was not selling well enough on the market. But now the tide is turning again.

The six looks of the “La Donna” collection are closely based on the men’s line: They are characterized by the same smooth lines, combined with a clear cut. The fabrics from Brioni’s men’s fashion can also be found in the women’s collection. Designer Norbert Stumpfl designed, among other things, a white suit, a long wool coat and a black evening ensemble with a tuxedo jacket. Stumpfl has also designed a collection for spring, including a trench coat and a shirt dress.

Clothing from the luxury ready-to-wear collections is available on demand at Brioni boutiques in New York, Paris, London and Milan, as well as through Net-a-porter.
