The Brink in Peize must be significantly improved at the end of this year. The Noordenveld municipal council will most likely agree to a contribution of 225,000 euros for the Peizer center next week.
Tonight the council took little time to agree on the need for tackling the center. The approach to the historic Brink is called ‘step 1’ by councilor Robert Meijer (VVD) in the approach to the entire village centre.
The current trees on the Brink must be replaced and some demarcated parking spaces must be created. The intention is that it will be easier to ‘stay’ on the Brink and that people with mobility problems can also get there more easily.
All this goes hand-in-hand with tackling the sewer in Peize. In some parts of the village, the current way of draining water is insufficient and the sewerage needs to be addressed. In the case of the Brink, it means that the sewer system must be widened.
Councilor and Peizenaar Nelly Nieuwenhuizen (Lijst Groen Noordenveld) is happy that – after six years of making plans – there is finally a concrete plan. “But the parking pressure in the village still needs to be resolved,” she warned.
Alderman Meijer underlines the latter. “We have heard a lot of noise lately about the parking pressure in Peize. We should certainly pay attention to this in the broader picture, when the entire center is being overhauled.”
If all goes well, the approach to the Brink in Peize can actually start in August. This first project of the new Peizer center must be completed before Christmas 2024.
