‘Brilliant’ Erik ten Hag about possible base place Cristiano Ronaldo: ‘I keep my decision to myself’ | Foreign football

Erik ten Hag is confident that Manchester United will be strengthened in the coming weeks. The coach who came over from Ajax had a bad start and lost his first Premier League match, 2-1 against Brighton & Hove Albion.

,,I am convinced that we will have an even better team. I am satisfied and I think we work very well together,” said Ten Hag, who refused to comment on transfer rumors. “I can’t talk about individuals, I can’t talk about players who are under contract with other clubs.”

Ten Hag would like to keep Marcus Rashford, although there would be interest from top clubs, especially Paris Saint-Germain. “He is a very important player. From the first day I’ve been here, I’ve been very happy with him and I don’t want to lose him. He is definitely one of our plans at Manchester United.”

Ten Hag awaits the away game against Brentford next weekend. The game in London starts on Saturday evening at 6.30 pm. Whether Cristiano Ronaldo is at the kick-off, Ten Hag was still unsure. ,,He had a good week of training. He has played two half matches and whether he is in the starting line-up on Saturday, we will see. That will be my decision and I will keep it to myself.”

Brentford manager Thomas Frank is full of praise for Ten Hag in the run-up to the game with United. “He’s a brilliant coach,” said Frank. “He’s done a great job at his previous clubs and also at United they will do everything they can to get the most out of the players. They lost the first game and usually it’s the reaction to that is that you really want to win the next match, so it’s going to be extremely difficult for us.”
