The US band Bright Eyes has big plans: On Tuesday they announced to the public that all previous studio albums would be reissued as a so-called companion series and that they would release an additional 54 new songs. Another band project is also being planned and has already been announced for this year.
The albums will be reissued via “Dead Oceans” and will also include further recordings. All songs are said to have been developed and recorded at the band’s own ARC Studios in Omaha, Nebraska. It is planned to release a companion EP for each new edition, which will include five new songs and a cover. The first three albums of the band should make the beginning: A COLLECTION OF SONGS (1998), LETTING OFF THE HAPPINESS (1998) and FEVERS AND MIRRORS (2000). All of the albums mentioned can now be ordered and will be released on May 27, 2022.
Band boss Conor Oberst said of the Champion series, “It’s a meaningful way to connect with the past that doesn’t feel totally nostalgic and self-absorbed. We take those songs and make them interesting to us again. I like that. I like the challenge. I like being forced to do something that’s a little difficult just to see if we can do it.”
