Bridget Maasland thinks that too many episodes of Chateau Meiland are being made this season. She fears one overkill. “I think it’s a bit much, yes. It is being milked out.”
For the first time it seems that the viewing figures of the Meilandjes are under some pressure. Martien Meiland once said that he would only continue if more than 1 million people continue to watch, but now they are falling far below that lower limit. They even got stuck at just 680 thousand viewers this week.
Longest time?
Can Chateau Meiland continue for a long time or is the best before date in sight? Bridget Maasland wonders in the BLVD Podcast. “Are you waiting for the eighth season of that?” she asks colleague Rob Goossens.
Rob: “Well, I have to be honest: three seasons ago I would have seen it. Because in the end it’s the remodeling where it gets really fun. But that after all this time they still panic blindly when a thread comes loose. Yes, we know that now… So yes, but I don’t think I am really the target group for Chateau Meiland.”
Thirteen episodes
The criticism is now that Chateau Meiland has become ‘boring, long and monotonous’ and Rob can agree with that. “I dutifully watch three episodes per season. And I have now understood that I will not see thirteen episodes this season, because they are milking it at Talpa,” says Rob.
Thirteen?! Bridget thinks that is really an overdose: “So much? I think a bit much, yes. But yes, it is also one of the few well-scoring programs that they have at the moment [bij SBS 6].”
Milked out
Yes, Rob has to agree. “Yes, they have Today Inside, Massa is Kassa and the Meilandjes.”
Bridget: “And it is all well milked.”
Rob: “Yes, exactly. The Meilandjes are of course also well paid. So I understand that they say: ‘Then you also have to work for it.’”
