Bridget Maasland slaps Beau on the fingers: ‘Resentful of gross interview’

Bridget Maasland strongly criticizes her colleague Beau van Erven Dorens. She doesn’t think it’s nice that the presenter just broadcast his interview with Gordon. “Protect him!”

It is inevitable that Beau van Erven Dorens knew that his interview with Gordon would do him more harm than good, but the presenter still broadcast it – possibly in the hope of high viewing figures. During the conversation, Goor revealed a sensitive family trauma of his ex-boyfriend Gavin. Distasteful, say critics.

Misrepresentation

Beau eagerly allowed it all to happen and is therefore under heavy fire. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s a low point in Beau’s career. I thought it was such a disgrace, so bad. After all those programs that bear his name, you have a reputation to uphold and he has really lost that,” says Evert Santegoeds, for example, in the podcast Strictly Private.

And Gordon? “He must be on pills again by now, because the reactions to that interview with Beau are of course no more enthusiastic than I was about it. If this is supposed to be your comeback, then it didn’t quite work out.”

Rebuttal

Bridget Maasland understands the criticism of her colleague Beau, she says in the BLVD Podcast. “Everything was mainly exposed from one side, of course. And that was from Gordon’s side. And people in particular had a bit of trouble with that. Of course it is not a matter of hearing either way, because Gavin does not appear in this story.”

Colleague Rob Goossens: “Exactly. And he said really, really bad things. That he brings in the schizophrenia of Gavin’s brother, who apparently took his own life. And that he then links that to Gavin’s behavior.”

Bridget: “That it would be genetically determined.”

In protection

You just can’t fix it, says Rob. “Precisely. While I then think: yes, look at yourself. The ridiculousness also about sobriety, even though he was a declared addict in any case. These are things that simply should have been met with pushback. And that didn’t happen.”

Bridget believes Beau should never have let this happen. “But isn’t it perhaps also a bit like someone should have been protected from themselves? So you shouldn’t have conducted this interview in the first place?”

Relativization

All in all, it is a missed opportunity for Gordon, according to Rob. “I’m afraid I completely agree with you. If I were the creators, I would have said to Gordon: hey, here’s your ski pass and let’s go play on the mountain, and for this broadcast we will pretend that we were only on the road with Maurice Steijn and Ruben Nicolai. ”

He concludes: “Other episodes of Casa di Beau also feature two people, so no one would have noticed that Gordon was originally intended to be in it.”
