Bridget Maasland in a horse suit attracts more viewers than the Football World Cup

Bridget Maasland in a horse suit attracts more attention than the World Cup and that is a considerable achievement, according to Tina Nijkamp. “Unbelievable that The Masked Singer is rated so high even now!”

The Football World Cup in the controversial Qatar is in full swing and that means that most TV evenings are currently won by football, but yesterday was different. The Masked Singer was on the tube at RTL 4 and won with almost 2 million viewers (34 percent market share) with large figures from football at competitor NPO 1.

‘It is unbelievable’

During the broadcast of The Masked Singer, none other than Bridget Maasland came out of the horse suit. No one on the jury had filled in her name and that led to surprised faces, especially again at Carlo Boszhard, who is tearing the corners of his mouth again today or tomorrow.

It is very good that The Masked Singer scores so high during the World Cup, says viewing expert Tina Nijkamp. “The Masked Singer wins the evening with almost 2 million viewers. Unbelievable to score so high during the Football World Cup and even to be the number one of the evening with no less than 400 thousand viewers more than the number two. What a success.”

Astrid on three

The World Cup match between Serbia and Switzerland was number two at prime time with 1.3 million viewers (23 percent). This is followed by Astrid Joosten with her quiz 2 for 12, good for almost 1.3 million viewers (21 percent) on NPO 2.

Tina: “Whereas The Masked Singer is a very broad program in terms of viewers, 2 voor 12 is actually almost only watched by people over 55.”

SBS 6 disappoints

SBS 6 always scores the roof after football, this time again with 945 thousand viewers (19 percent) for De Oranjewinter. But it’s doom and gloom against the games. For example, the repeat of De Alleskunner VIPS attracted only 122 thousand viewers (2 percent) yesterday.

Tina, who is the former channel boss of SBS 6, says: “The SBS 6 team will certainly text and email each other this Saturday about possible alternatives to De Alleskunner VIPS. Off the schedule next week? Only 122 thousand viewers is very few and costs a lot of money in advertising revenue. For example, a housing program would work better.”

She also points to the poor scores of Shownieuws (163 thousand) and HLF8 (185 thousand).
