Nicolette Kluijver lived with her children on Bonaire for four years, but she has decided to move back to the Netherlands. According to Bridget Maasland, this is partly due to education on the island. “Yes, because she wants to send the children to school here, right? I understand that,” she says The BLVD Podcast.

Better in the sun

Show expert Eric de Munck also finds it enviable if you can just go live on a tropical island. “Yes, I understand it for school, but when you see John Ewbank and Kelly Weekers, who live in Ibiza… I would also like to sit on your laptop there at sunset.”

Better in the sun ‘than say in the always rainy Netherlands’, says Eric. “I think: if you have the choice, I would choose that.”

‘In terms of education’

However, according to Bridget, it is also important to choose for your children. “Yes, but the children, especially Nicolette’s, also thought it was fantastic. They were like Mowglis who wandered outside barefoot all day long. It is of course a completely different life, they actually did not want to return, but in terms of education…”

If we can believe Bridget, education is not very good on Bonaire and that would be bad news for Wietze de Jager, since he has just moved to Bonaire with his entire family, where his children also go to school. “Maybe in Ibiza, right? Of course there is an International School there and that will certainly be good.”

‘Yes, right?’

Eric expects that such an island will eventually get boring. “A beach like that certainly sounds very idyllic and fantastic, but at some point you have of course actually seen those coconuts and those palm trees.”

Bridget agrees. “Yes, right?”

Where would she like to emigrate to? “Ooh, I’ve said before – but that’s not possible as long as my parents are still alive or family is here – that I would like to go to Australia. They really have everything there. Nice weather, nice people, the vastness. It’s all very vast. Yes, I just think it is a very nice country and very nice people.”
