Bridget Maasland, presenter of RTL Boulevard, launches a hard attack on Marco Borsato. She like a message in which his dirty messages are referred to as ‘pedo apps’. Oh dear…

Vrij Nederland editor-in-chief Sander Heijne, like Angela de Jong, has difficulty with how quickly people like Tina Nijkamp and Albert Verlinde want to hoist the controversial Marco Borsato back into the saddle. The singer may have been acquitted of abuse, but the fact is that he sent masturbation tips to an underage girl.

Transparent

Sander speaks of ‘pedo apps’. He thinks it’s lame that Marco chose good friend Sergio Herman’s program for his media comeback. “Borsato’s design is transparent,” he writes Instagram. “In order to fill concert halls, he must first polish his image.”

He continues: “The singer cannot use critical questions about the sexually suggestive apps he sent to a fifteen-year-old girl who considered him her godfather.”

Silence

The fact that people like Johan Derksen want to turn a blind eye is more wrong than wrong, says Sander. “The public debate unfolded according to an ingrained pattern. Johan Derksen (the man who once spontaneously confessed to rape on television) stood up for Borsato.”

“According to his reading, Angela de Jong is ‘a decency scumbag who thinks everything men do is wrong’. De Jong should accept the judge’s ruling. Borsato has been acquitted. Let’s not talk about it anymore.”

Patriarchy

Sander finds it disgusting. “The natural way with which the caste of penopausal opinion makers stands up for Borsato shows that the patriarchy is almost undermining the MeToo movement again.”

“Where girls and women were given a little more space to denounce sexual misconduct a few years ago, the door is now being slammed in their faces again. But what are the facts?”

Epstein

The judge does not consider fornication proven, Sander agrees, but: “It is now established that the now 59-year-old singer sent sexually suggestive apps to an underage girl. With texts that could have come directly from the Epstein files.”

“And just like Epstein’s clientele, Borsato still appears to have powerful friends in the media who are willing to condone his pedosexual tendencies.”

Like from Bridget

According to Sander, Angela de Jong is ‘fully within the right to make a moral judgment about that’. “That does not make her a decency breaker, but a woman who uses her social position to stand up for the real victim in this case.”

Who likes this Borsato bash? Bridget Maasland, presenter of the influential RTL Boulevard. One thing is certain: the road to a carefree comeback is still full of obstacles for Marco…
