Jürgen Klopp comments on the separation from Ole Werner at RB Leipzig.
Jürgen Klopp has publicly announced his separation from RB Leipzig and coach Ole Werner. At MagentaTV, the Head of Global Soccer justified the move and said he was involved in the decision-making as part of the global Red Bull team.
Klopp said: “Ole did a great job. We qualified for the Champions League. But we also have to look forward at the same time.” To justify this, he added: “We then thought about what it could look like given the burden that we were facing. Then they decided to make the change in Leipzig.”

Werner’s new game idea didn’t convince bosses
RB Leipzig parted ways with Werner after just one season. The 38-year-old led the club to third place in the Bundesliga and into the Champions League.
There is said to have been dissatisfaction particularly among the chairman of the supervisory board, Oliver Mintzlaff, as well as in the global football department around Klopp and ex-national player Mario Gomez. Werner’s new game idea was not convincing there, and RB reportedly needed a lot of luck to qualify for the Champions League.
Werner still has a contract in Leipzig until 2027. His assistant coaches Tom Cichon and Patrick Kohlmann also have to leave the club.
According to consistent media reports, the Argentinian Martín Demichelis, most recently coach of RCD Mallorca, is named as a possible successor. Klopp said: “I’m not taking part in speculation now. Everything that needs to be said comes from Leipzig.” RB Leipzig wants to present a successor as soon as possible.
