Bridge Stroobos will open again in mid-September, bus for primary school students from Monday

If no other unexpected things happen, the bridge in Stroobos will be reopened on Friday 15 September. The repair work on the bridge has proceeded as planned, reports Rijkswaterstaat.

Until the opening, a diversion route has been indicated via the Eibersburen bridge. On Thursday, August 17, around 3 a.m., the inland vessel MTS Marlou collided with the bridge in Stroobos. The bridge was severely damaged as a result.

Repair work is currently being done on the concrete and the structure. The bridge is therefore blocked for cyclists, pedestrians and road traffic.

Elementary school students

Rijkswaterstaat will deploy a bus from Monday 4 September, at the start of the school year, to safely bring primary school students from CBS De Claercamp to and from school. No replacement transport is arranged for secondary school students. The municipalities of Achtkarspelen and Westerkwartier are taking extra measures along the diversion route for the safety of cyclists. This is done with signage and extra enforcement.

Abel Tasman Struuntocht

The Abel Tasman Struuntocht, a walking event, will take place on Saturday 9 September. Due to the obstruction of the bridge, this tour partly goes over the diversion route. The municipality of Westerkwartier is taking traffic measures to allow walkers to pass safely.
