The Conzett Bridge is a suspension bridge, the bridge deck of which can be pulled up with steel cables so that ships can sail under it. However, something went wrong when picking up the bridge today. During that maneuver, the bridge deck fell into the water and onto the abutments. There is only material damage, because there was no one on or under the bridge at the time of the incident.
In the meantime, De Vlaamse Waterweg has already appointed a contractor to dismantle the bridge deck and remove it from the water. A diversion via the Scharebrug will be provided.
