Brian May: “Another World” (Review & Stream)

After the Queen back catalog and Brian May’s excellent solo debut, “Back To The Light” (1992), Bob Ludwig has now also remastered the more rock and gimmicky follow-up, “Another World” (1998). The sound is now sometimes more broad than deep: “Business” sounds like it’s going to a meeting in a monster truck; the Jimi Hendrix cover of “One Rainy Wish” (pranks by Michael Kamen, as on “Who
Wants To Live Forever”) seemed more present, more luminous in the original mastering.

Songs and guests – Jeff Beck, Ian Hunter and Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins – remain impressive. The deluxe edition comes with 15 bonus tracks (rarities, live recordings), including the 1980 piano ballad “My Boy”.
