Brian Johnson gets angry – he doesn’t want to talk about the band’s future

Brian Johnson is known to be “back”. After the AC/DC singer’s threatening hearing impairment could be treated with a new therapy and good in-ears, the threat of deafness was off the table. He had to abandon the Rock or Bust tour in 2016, but then took part in the 2020 album Power Up. Then he even returned to the live stage of Australia’s Highway To Heller, at first selectively.

However, how things will continue with him and the rest of the band should remain in the dark.

“I’m not answering that – why should I?” Johnson said when asked by US radio host Eddie Trunk if AC/DC would play live together again.

“First of all, there are five members in this band, and asking one member isn’t fair,” Johnson said. When asked how he felt about being on stage for a reunion, Johnson replied, “I can’t answer that. Everyone agreed to let it be. That is the official line.”

Trunk probed and asked if another album was possible.

“Now it’s slowly becoming taboo here and you’re getting invasive,” replied the singer. “It’s clear that if I say something about it here, it’s going to be totally blown up. You just can’t afford to talk about anything. There is far too much hype on the internet. And I’m not on any social media format. I never was. Just gossip and gossip…”

In the same radio talk, Johnson opened up about his duet with Justin Hawkins during the Taylor Hawkins Tribute concert in London in September.

He admits the moment was a little “awkward,” adding:

“Justin Hawkins (by The Darkness, editor’s note) messed up halfway through and I forgot the damn lyrics! But the worst part was that he was so excited. When he came out he didn’t even think to bring his microphone. That’s why it looked so awkward when he tried to sing on another mic stand that wasn’t tuned for him. And he’s quite tall, about six feet or so…”
